The End of Meat - Tobias Leenaert (Lunch Lecture, After Program and Dinner)

  • Auditorium, Blauwe Zaal Eindhoven University of Technology Eindhoven, NB, 5612 AZ Netherlands (map)

🥩 Lunch Lecture: The End of Meat 🥗

Should we all go vegan? That’s for you to decide, but Tobias Leenaert’s rational and pragmatic approach might just help you shape your opinion. In this talk, he will discuss the impact of the way we treat animals - and the importance of why we should address it.

🌿 Although the majority of people in the Netherlands believe we should eat less meat, the average meat consumption in our country has hardly changed this century. The shelves of meat substitutes get wider, the number of flexitarians grows rapidly, as do concerns about the climate. At the same time, no more than 5% of people are pescetarian, vegetarian or vegan.

🌍 Tobias Leenaert has been lecturing on veganism for several decades. In this talk, he takes a closer look at the issue of animal welfare in our society and explains why it is one of the most important moral issues of our time. In addition, he will discuss what should or could be done to speed up solving this matter.

🌱 Tobias Leenaert is the author of How to Create a Vegan World: a Pragmatic Approach and blogs at www.veganstrategist.org. He is a longtime speaker and strategist, giving talks and trainings all over the world. He is also co-founder of ProVeg International, a food awareness organisation working with a broad range of parties – from decision makers to the general public – to transform the global food system. Tobias is keen on thinking out of the box, building bridges between different groups, and practicing what he calls ‘slow opinion’.

📌 This lecture will take place on Wednesday 8 February from 12:40 to 13:20 in the Blauwe Zaal in the Auditorium and is organized by Effective Altruism EindhovenStudium Generale, and the Vegan Student Association Eindhoven.

✍️ You can sign up for this lunch lecture through the website of Studium Generale.

This includes the launch of the Eindhoven Alternative Protein Team, a new student initiative at TU/e that seeks to help enable this goal.
